Our Permanent Placement Process
We know that every family is unique. Your choice of a nanny and your ongoing relationship with her is completely personal – but at the same time it’s important to hire a professional and start off on the right foot. North Shore Nannies is here to help you do that. Plus, we’ll be here with advice and support throughout the hiring process and beyond.
Here’s what you can expect from us as we help you move through this most important process. We will:
- Gain a thorough understanding of your needs.
- Present only those candidates that come closest to matching your needs.
- Provide support throughout the interviewing process.
- Make the placement process as efficient and effective as possible.
- Help manage your search and structure your offer based on our understanding of the market place.
Step-by-step – here’s how it works:
Complete and submit our Family Placement Questionnaire. This quick on-line form gives us the basics about your family and what you’re looking for.
Schedule an initial consultation with our staff: We’d like to spend about 15 – 30 minutes on the phone for a detailed discussion of your needs. We’ll answer all your questions and create a plan for moving forward with your search.
Submit your Referral Agreement. The Referral Agreement outlines the agency fees and replacement guarantee. It must be on file with the agency prior to scheduling interviews. Please review it carefully and ask any questions you might have.
Selection of candidates. We’ll review applicants and select only those that come closest to meeting your needs. We’ll email you pdf files on each candidate, with information on their employment history, education and references. You can review them at your convenience and select those you’d like to meet. Of course, we’re available to answer all your questions about individual candidates.
Schedule interviews. Once we’ve identified candidates you’re interested in, we’ll schedule interviews for you. We recommend a 3-step process:
- An adult-focused interview allows time for parents and nannies to speak freely without distraction. This is the best first step to determine if you can form a working partnership.
- A child-focused interview gives candidates a chance to interact with children under their parent’s observation.
- A trial day gives nannies and families a chance to see what a working day would be like in your home.
We’ll follow-up with you at every stage to determine next steps and refine your search.
Final selection. Once you’re seriously considering one or two candidates, we strongly encourage you to make reference check calls. When you’re ready to make an offer, we can help finalize the details and put everything in writing. We have additional materials available to help you develop your employment agreement.
